Big IdYouth Sports Consulting
Build It Right. Grow It With Purpose.
After nearly four decades of coaching, officiating, organizing leagues, developing programs and building youth-sports facilities, I understand what it takes to create a program that works—not only on paper, but in the real world.
I’m Michael Peterson, founder of MP Sports and a longtime youth-sports leader based in Windsor, Colorado. I help schools, clubs, facilities, recreation organizations and community leaders develop affordable, sustainable programs that serve athletes and families at every level.
My approach is practical, honest and built around one central question:
What will genuinely benefit the athletes, families and community this program is intended to serve?

My Story
My Story
Many connect with interest in building their own youth sports facility. This your? Read here first.
Like many people, my life has included both success and struggle.
Some of my greatest lessons did not come from a classroom, a degree program, or a business venture. They came from navigating adversity, overcoming personal challenges, and learning how to move forward when life did not go according to plan.
As a young boy, I experienced family disruption that left a lasting impact on my confidence, identity, and sense of belonging. During my teenage years, I faced circumstances and relationships that were difficult to understand and process at the time. Like many young people carrying unresolved pain, I struggled with anger, poor decisions, and challenges that created obstacles in my life.
Throughout every season of my life—whether I was experiencing success, facing setbacks, moving forward, or feeling like I had been knocked two steps backward—one thing remained constant: my commitment to helping others. No matter what challenges I was personally facing, I always found purpose in serving people, encouraging those around me, and making a positive impact on children, families, and my community. My faith taught me to focus on something greater than myself, and that belief became the foundation of my daily life. I made it a goal to be kind, generous, supportive, and impactful wherever I could. Looking back, I realize that even during my most difficult moments, helping others was often what helped me keep moving forward. It wasn't just something I did—it became who I am. That same commitment continues today through my mentoring, where I strive to help others discover hope, purpose, resilience, and the confidence to create a better future.
Those experiences taught me something I now share with every person I mentor: our past influences us, but it does not have to define us.
Over time, through counseling, personal growth, faith, mentorship, and a commitment to becoming a better man, I learned how to turn adversity into strength and purpose.
For more than 36 years, I have dedicated my life to developing people and building organizations. I built and operated a successful youth sports facility, managed staff and large-scale events, coached athletes, mentored business owners, and helped leaders navigate challenges in both their professional and personal lives.
Along the way, I earned degrees in Education and Leadership, but the lessons that shaped me most came from real life—leading through challenges, rebuilding after setbacks, and learning how to persevere when quitting would have been easier.
Today, I mentor individuals who are looking for clarity, direction, accountability, and encouragement. Some are business owners. Some are leaders. Some are simply people who feel stuck and want to move forward.
What connects them is the desire to grow.
I don't mentor from a position of perfection. I mentor from a position of experience.
I understand what it feels like to face disappointment, uncertainty, failure, and self-doubt. I also understand the power of resilience, responsibility, and having someone walk alongside you during difficult seasons.
My goal is simple: to help people discover their strengths, overcome obstacles, and build a future that reflects who they want to become.
Why My Mentorship Matters
The guidance I provide is not based solely on theory.
It is built on decades of leadership, business ownership, coaching, counseling experience, personal growth, and overcoming life's challenges.
If you are facing a transition, a setback, a leadership challenge, or simply looking for someone who will listen, encourage, and hold you accountable, I would be honored to walk alongside you.
Because I've learned that some of the most meaningful breakthroughs happen when someone believes in your future more than your past.
Your story is still being written.
